MAC Shipping is proud to celebrate an outstanding achievement by our basketball team, which secured third place at the 11th ICBC Cup Basketball Tournament 2026.
Entering this year’s competition, there are a total of 16 team and as one of the underdogs, the team faced a challenging path from the very beginning. Drawn into a highly competitive group, MAC Shipping was not expected to progress easily. However, through discipline, teamwork and determination, the players rose to the occasion and emerged as the top-seeded team in their group.
This result was a testament not only to the team’s performance on the court, but also to the resilience and unity that define the MAC Shipping spirit.
Every game presented a new challenge. Against strong opponents and under intense pressure, the team remained focused on its objective: to compete with confidence, support one another and give its best until the final whistle.
The group-stage campaign became a defining moment for the team. From the first game, the team achieved victories against CCS海事联队 & 国油联队What began as an uphill challenge developed into a remarkable run, with MAC Shipping deciding win against 招行青建联队to clinch first seed in the group and earning a place in the semi-finals.
Reaching the semi-finals was already a major accomplishment, but the team’s journey did not end there. After a hard-fought semi-final defeat against 电信华新联队, the players had to quickly regroup for the third-place playoff.
In the third-place match, the team delivered a strong performance to secure the win in overtime and conclude the tournament on a high note, winning against 中国电建. The third-place finish was well deserved—a reward for the commitment, perseverance and fighting spirit displayed throughout the competition.
This achievement reflects an important lesson: success is not only measured by reaching the final, but also by how a team responds when faced with setbacks.
From being viewed as underdogs at the start of the tournament to finishing as group leaders and ultimately claiming third place, the MAC Shipping basketball team has given everyone in the organisation a reason to be proud.
